System Sounds lacking trebble??

Hi, As per subject, over the past few days, I have noticed that systems sounds are dull lacking trebble.

I have looked at the settings for the soundcard I use for Default sounds and the tone settings are as they have been. No other sounds appear to have been affected.

I would be glad of any help.
